FrontierX today announced the inaugural AuraOS Global Online Hackathon, challenging developers worldwide to build reproducible, simulation-ready robot Skills using natural-language-driven VibeCoding. The competition is fully online, open to participants globally, with teams of one to five.
Closing the Gap Between Chat and Motion
While AI chatbots can generate compelling text today, translating that intelligence into observable robot behavior remains a hard problem. Hand-authoring Skills carries steep technical barriers, locking most developers out of the AuraOS developer pathway. This hackathon addresses that gap head-on: participants use AuraOS VibeCoding — an AI agent that turns natural language into executable robot code — to produce Skills, datasets, and scenes that load, run, and reproduce inside the AuraOS simulation platform.
The core challenge: a real creation loop with provable VibeCoding usage, observable simulation behavior, and at least one loadable Skill. A demo video must show the simulation world; triggering the Skill must produce visible speech, motion, or state changes.
Three Competition Tracks
Track 1 — Persona × Scene Skill Pack. A joint contribution combining a persona card, a scene specification, and one or more bound Skills. Example use cases include a showroom greeter, a guided tour companion, a home-care scene, or a pre-purchase trial demo. The default embodiment is a spherical companion robot in an indoor living-room scene. Required deliverables: persona card, scene description, Skill pack, and a demo video showing observable Skill behavior in simulation. Bonus points for Store-ready packaging, degradation strategy, and transferable scenes.
Track 2 — Data & Model. Participants must contribute both a dataset and a model, with a strong preference for VLA (Vision-Language-Action) or world-model approaches. The data side covers trajectory, image, and state collection with a complete Dataset Card documenting provenance, licensing, fields, and privacy. The model side requires weights or adapters, evaluation metrics, and a reproducible demo. Bonus points for evaluation suites, safety gates, and fault-injection and recovery records. Lightweight models are accepted only as edge or fallback complements.
Track 3 — Multi-Agent Orchestration. Contributing reproducible orchestration algorithms, protocols, or scheduling strategies for multi-agent systems. Example directions: task decomposition and priority scheduling, agent-to-agent handoff with context passing and rollback, resource-conflict resolution with defined rules and verdicts, and orchestration visualization inside simulation. Required deliverables: algorithm description with configuration, at least one multi-agent collaborative task with a defined pass/fail criterion, and a demo video. Bonus points for evaluation metrics, replay, and fault injection. Teams are encouraged to mount their orchestration onto a Track 1 scene Skill for end-to-end validation.

Track 1 individual prizes capped at $4,000 each. Additional recognitions include Best VibeCoding Craftsmanship, an internship fast-track pathway, Skill Store early access, and AuraOS Developer Certification.
Judging Criteria
Required for all submissions: demo video ≤ 3 minutes, accessible code repository, track-specific deliverables, proof of VibeCoding usage, observable simulation behavior, README with safety self-assessment.
Platform Access & Mentorship
Each team receives one VibeCoding Agent, access to the simulation world demo environment, Skill file authoring and tool-use loops, and a starter kit with the aura hackathon verify command. The official target: zero to working Hello World in 30–60 minutes.
Mentorship runs throughout: a kick-off session covers capability boundaries, live demos, and track walkthroughs with live Q&A. Weekly clinics offer VibeCoding prompt coaching, data-to-training mini-experiments, and optional roundtables. A platform manual and Discord community provide ongoing support.
Timeline
Registration opens now and stays open for approximately two months, with rolling team formation allowed during the window. Build window opens mid-to-late September; teams should complete the Starter kit, then pick a track and begin development. Submission deadline to be announced via official channels.
